This course prepares you to take an optional National Radon Safety Board exam fulfilling the Specialist requirements or National Environmental Health Association-National Radon Proficiency Program certification exam. The course covers a wide variety of topics including: Radiation Physics; Health Risks; Radon Sources and Behavior; Measurement Protocols, Methods, Techniques and Devices; Radon in Water; QA/QC; Interpretation of Results and Mitigation. The course will prepare you to perform radon measurements using your own equipment, analyze the equipment and report results to clients.
Radon In Water – 8 Hours

This course provides the knowledge and skills required to test for radon in water, evaluate its risk and choose a mitigation system for waterborne radon. The course covers the sources of radon in water, the current guidelines, and factors that govern system installation. It prepares you for the optional exam. Included in the course are: the Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments of 1996; Health Risks; Waterborne Radon Sources and Behavior; Measurement Protocols, Methods, Techniques and Devices; Choosing the Appropriate System; System Installation.
Radon Resistant New Construction – 4 Hours

This 4-hour course covers the installation of radon systems in new (primarily residential) construction. Working with the latest RRNC standards and recommendations from EPA, NAHB, US Green Building Council and others, details are presented on designing buildings to reduce negative pressure, preparing the site for a passive system, sealing radon out, and installing the vent piping. Details on activating the system with a fan and testing are also included. Finally, resources and suggestions on marketing radon resistant new construction are presented.
Marketing the Radon Message – 4 Hours

This four-hour class applies current marketing principles to spreading the radon message. The goal is to increase business for the radon professional by increasing the market for services. Since the responsibility for informing the public about radon, its health threat, and mitigation has fallen so heavily on radon measurement and mitigation professionals, it pays to understand how to encourage "sales" of the radon "product". This class encourages participants to think about the radon message as a product that competes with the buzz of other sales promotions and provides tools to grab attention for radon services.

Most homeowners test for radon only during a real estate transaction, so the real estate agent becomes a critical point of information and attitude formation for sellers and buyers. The agent is a key marketing target for the radon professional. Using marketing principles, this four-hour course gives radon professionals the framework and tools to market radon testing and fixing as beneficial to the agent and client alike. The goal is to increase the demand for radon services and develop a positive attitude toward radon in the real estate community. The course handouts include a ready-made presentation to real estate agents.
Radon Measurement Refresher: Testing by the Book – 8 Hours

This course is designed to fit into the common inspection and radon test process so that the information addresses real world radon issues. Taking this course will help you evaluate your current radon testing protocol, improve your quality control system, and double-check your reporting. The course can answer your questions, clear up contradictions you’ve encountered, and generally make your radon measurement service better, more defensible and more streamlined.
Choosing the Right Fan – 8 Hours

With plenty of hands on and short cuts, this 8-hour course will give mitigators practice on determining the right fan for the job. Working with air flow, pressure loss, and fan curves, the course will give you tips and practice on the fine points of making the most efficient system with the best fan choice.
