Helping to move the radon industry forward, together.
RadonAway partners with and supports its customers and the radon industry through a wide variety of programs, sponsorships, donations, and activities. Our participation is not limited only to our work hours; our staff members spend many hours each year participating in volunteer campaigns as well. Here are just a few of the ways in which we provide support to the radon industry.
Spruce Radon Training Program
For more than 20 years, our Spruce Training division has been recognized for quality, affordability and innovation. We offer monthly webinar courses for Radon Measurement and Radon Mitigation certification prep, advanced Multifamily and Schools and Large Buildings webinar courses on a regular basis, plus 30+ online self-study continuing education courses. Contact us to discuss your radon education needs.
Customer Support
Along with radon training classes, RadonAway provides expert one on one advice and coaching for newcomers and industry veterans alike. Our experts work with you to advise on everything from best radon business practices to choosing equipment, and from proper diagnostic testing to system design and installation. Rick “Radon Rick” Saulen, Dawn Oggier and Ed Beauregard, as well as other staff members are available to assist you with business or technical challenges.
AARST Support
For nearly 30 years, we have supported AARST through our multiple memberships, service as officers and board members, and volunteering to lead and serve on committees. We have been a major supporter of the annual Symposium for many years as planners, organization volunteers, participants, sponsors, exhibitors, and trainers. We are major donors to ARPC and other AARST initiatives and programs.
Standards Consortium Participation
From the early days of the consortium, we have chaired or served on nearly every standard development committee. We continue to provide our experience, knowledge and expertise for new standards development and standards reviews and updates.
Supporting Industry Events
as Sponsors & Participants
We sponsor and, when available, exhibit at 20 or more Chapter and Region conferences each year, and provide training classes when needed. We sponsor lunches, dinners, breaks, or giveaways when the opportunity arises, and, in the case of a recent Chapter golf tournament, we helped to plan and promote the event as well as providing face masks, sponsoring, and participating in the tournament.
Lung Force Support
RadonAway’s involvement with American Lung Association goes back many years. In 2009, both RadonAway and AccuStar were recognized with an award at the ALA Gala in Boston. Our more recent activities with the ALA include becoming a sponsor of Lung Force, a nationwide initiative led by the ALA to unite women and their loved ones to stand together against lung cancer and for lung health. RadonAway has proudly supported the Lung Force as a sponsor and team participant in Lung Force Walk Events nationwide each year since 2017. "Only a force of many can take on lung cancer, the #1 cancer killer of women in the United States." We also encourage radon professionals throughout the U.S. to participate in local Walks, providing advice and assistance to professionals who are interested in starting a local Lung Force Walk team to raise funds and radon awareness. CanSAR Support
As a founding sponsor of CanSAR, RadonAway has provided financial support as well as many hours of volunteer service to help give a voice to radon-induced lung cancer survivors and to encourage prevention through testing. Our staff members have participated in many awareness campaigns, starting with participation in American Society’s Relay for Life in 2007. Later activities included the Traveling Radon Tee awareness campaign – distributing Reduce Radon tee-shirts to tourists and other visitors along the Freedom Trail in Boston and to the witches in Salem, among others; one of our tee-shirts made it as far as Morocco. We, along with members of the New England Chapter of AARST, visited the Massachusetts State House with banners and signs as part of CanSAR’s Capital Steps campaign to raise awareness and urge legislation. More recently, three of our staff members were founding members of CanSAR’s Women Against Radon (WAR) committee, which held a fundraising dinner and auction in conjunction with the 2019 Symposium.
Minnesota Wild Campaign
In January 2020, National Radon Action Month, our Air Chek testing laboratory announced an exciting and unique radon awareness and testing campaign which continued into early April. The campaign brought together the NHL’s Minnesota Wild; former USA Women’s Hockey player, lung cancer survivor, and radon awareness advocate Rachael Malmberg; and Air Chek. We met Rachael the previous year at the Symposium, where the plans started to take shape. The goal of the three-month campaign was to encourage more people to test their homes for radon. To make testing more accessible, Air Chek offered significantly discounted radon test kits and information about radon in Minnesota. Homeowners accessed the information and purchase low-cost test kits at mn.radon.com.
The campaign included in-arena video exposure via the arena’s videoboard, of Rachael’s personal message promoting radon testing. Video messages are not common during home games, but given the importance of the message and that some of the Wild personnel knew her from her days as an award-winning hockey player, the decision was made to allow use of the video to generate publicity for the campaign. We also funded airings of Rachael’s video on local television stations throughout the campaign.
